New Zealand veteran pacer, Tim Southee shares his views on Suryakumar Yadav’s blistering knock in the 2nd T20 international. He said that Suryakumar Yadav is not yet the best T20 player India has ever produced.
Suryakumar Yadav went berserk in the 2nd T20 international against New Zealand. India was batting first and lost 2 quick wickets. However, Surya was about to bring carnage onto the field. Suryakumar scored a fiery century of 111 runs in just 51 deliveries at a strike rate of 217. He took Lockie Ferguson to the cleaners in the 19th over by smashing him for 22 runs.
Now, Tim Southee has reacted to Surya’s innings. Southee clinched the second hattrick of his career. He was asked if he sees Suryakumar Yadav as the best T20 player India has ever produced. To this, he disagreed and said that Surya needs to continue this form for a longer period of time to achieve that title.
“Surya has been having a great 12 months,” Tim Southee
Tim Southee said that Surya is having a good run as of now. But he needs to continue playing like this for a few more years to be India’s best T20 player.
“There has been a number of great T20 players from India, so many great cricketers. Surya has been having a great 12 months and it is for him to continue to do what he has been doing”
“India has produced so many amazing cricketers not only in the T20 format but also across the three formats. You have got so many players who have played for a long period of time and have achieved so much over a long period of time”
Southee impressed with Surya’s knock against New Zealand
Tim Southee further added that Surya is a multi-dimensional player. He was very pleased with his performance in the second match.
“Suryakumar Yadav is a player who can hit in a number of ways. He has been in great form in the last 12 months, in IPL and international cricket. He came up with a very impressive knock today”
Last month, Surya became the only 2nd player in the world to reach 1,000 T20 runs in a single calendar year. He has been the most successful T20 player this year for India. He got his due late and is making it count.
