Travis Head, Australia’s hero during their Ashes triumph over England will not form a part of the T20I squad for the series against Sri Lanka.

He will be playing a Sheffield Shield match in place of that for his side South Australia before he departs for the Pakistan tour.

Daniel Sams has replaced Head in the team. He performed excellently in the recently concluded Big Bash League for Sydney Thunder where he took 19 wickets at an average of 24.57 and also hammered 98 off 44 balls against the Melbourne Renegades.

Sams plays for New South Wales in the Sheffield Shield tournament.

Cricket Australia also released the full schedule for the domestic tournament and so it is now an opportunity for several Test players to get some much-needed Test match practice in their respective sides such as Queensland, Victoria, South Australia and New South Wales.

Travis Head received his call-up for the Sri Lanka T20I series.

His last T20 match was in 2018.

But his participation in the Sheffield Shield match was considered more viable considering the Pakistan tour next month. Head will now join the T20 squad in Melbourne after his domestic fixture.
