Varanasi is all set to get its new stadium in the future.

In Uttar Pradesh’s budget announcement, the government allocated around INR 95 crores to build a world-class cricket stadium in Varanasi.

Varanasi does have a cricket stadium at present but due to a lack of proper facilities, it’s not in use.

According to a domestic cricketer, the lack of proper amenities for players makes it difficult for talented players to make it to the Indian cricket team.

Even the availability of cricket camps in Varanasi has failed to produce any world-class cricketers to date.

RP Singh, a sports officer in Varanasi said that the stadium will be built on 32 acres of land.

UP does have an IPL team by the name of Lucknow Super Giants who debuted this year.

KL Rahul’s team’s home ground is the Ekana Cricket Stadium but it will be fascinating to see if the proposed new stadium gets to host any IPL games in the future or not.
