USA Cricket has welcomed the ICC’s decision to host the T20 World Cup in 2024.
This will allow USA Cricket to qualify for their maiden ICC tournament and also qualify for the 2022 and 2023 ICC tournaments before that.
USA head coach J Arun Kumar was elated with the ICC’s decision.
For the T20 World Cup, 12 teams will qualify automatically for the event.
The other two teams will be the hosts West Indies and the USA.
For the 2024 ICC Women’s T20 World Cup, eight teams will be qualifying directly for the tournament. The other two teams will have to qualify via the T20 World Cup global qualifier.
The ICC has also decided to extend ODI membership status to associate women’s teams which will enable them to qualify for ICC events based on ODI rankings after the recently concluded tournament in New Zealand.
The USA is really looking forward to playing cricket on their home soil.
