Vikram Rathour not in favor of keeping Rishabh Pant ahead of KL Rahul

The Indian team is doing pretty well in the T20 World Cup this year. They have won both their games and have four points in their kitty.

However, there is one problem that India needs to address and it is the current vice-captain, KL Rahul.

The opener has been out of form for quite some time and has recorded very low scores.

Many fans and cricket experts feel that Rishabh Pant should be given a chance at the top of the order.

Vikram Rathour, India’s batting coach has flat-out refused to keep Pant in place of Rahul.

Says Rathour,

No, we’re not really thinking that. Two games, I don’t think that’s a good enough sample size anyways. He’s been batting really well and he’s batted really well in the practice games, also, so we’re not looking at any such thing at the moment.

Pant has been warming the bench since the start of the Super 12 stage.

Rathour next talked about India’s attacking approach in T20Is and said,

We are looking to adapt. Of course, playing with intent is always the goal. We are looking to score runs whenever we can. But then we need to keep in account the conditions that we are playing on, the surfaces we are playing on.

India’s batting coach also had words of praise for star batter Virat Kohli and said that the latter has adapted to the game very well.

I think the conditions demanded him or the situation demanded him to play in a certain way, and he’s done that. He’s a good enough player to change his game or adapt his game to whatever the team requires, and he’s done that brilliantly so far, and we know that he’ll carry on doing that.
