Virat Kohli and KL Rahul rested for 3rd T-20I against SA

Ahead of the final T-20 match against South Africa, BCCI decided to rest Virat Kohli and KL. Rahul. The Indore match this Tuesday may see a Shreyas Iyer at number 3. The management however felt the necessity to consider Kohli’s workload before the Pakistan clash at MCG on 23rd October. They felt, this break will help Kohli to carry his momentum with the runs.

Hindustan Times sources informed,

“He [Kohli] has played back-to-back matches. Will have to be careful about his workload. With the T20 World Cup starting later this month, we want Virat to be fresh mentally and physically. He has featured regularly for India in T20I matches since the Asia Cup and with the series already won, it’s better to give him a breather and someone else can be handed a game ahead of him.”

Speaking about the T-20 series against South Africa, India have already sealed it by 2-1. In the first match India enjoyed an eight wickets win. The second match however was a thriller with David Miller’s century almost touching the winning line. However India managed to win it too by 16 runs. Henceforth, Tuesday’s is a mere dead rubber match.

King Kohli back in form

The best thing for any Indian Cricket fan is to see Virat Kohli back in form. Since the Asia Cup 2022, Kohli’s bat started speaking. He began his campaign against Pakistan with a crucial knock of 35. Thereafter he went on scoring two consecutive fifties against Hong Kong and Pakistan. He however suffered from a duck against Sri Lanka, but smashed his most awaited 71st century against Afghanistan. The Asia Cup saw King Kohli scoring 276 runs with an average of. His strike rate was 147.59.

Not only that, he moved 14 placed up from 29th to the 15th place in the ICC men’s T20 rankings for batters.

However, Kohli couldn’t manage anything against Australia at home. Australia dismissed him fir 2 and 11 respectively. The big match man however smashed 63 off 48 balls in the decider match. Therefore, India sealed the series by 2-1.

KL Rahul however is another name who will get a break too. In August, he came back from injury. Rahul however made a slow start. But the T-20 series against South Africa gave some ray of hope. In both the T-20Is, he registered two consecutive vital 50s.
