Indian head coach, Rahul Dravid heaped praise on Virat Kohli, saying that his dedication and understanding of the game are an inspiration to young players in the team.

Indian batting stalwart, Virat Kohli, went through a rough patch for more than 2 years. Nothing seemed to work for the decorated batter. He ran out of his luck and got out in the most unusual ways. He even repeated a few mistakes over and over again. The batter to score 70 international centuries in a span of 10 years, failed to click even one in more than 2 years of time.

Surely, Kohli faced a lot of criticism. He even let go of his captaincy duties to relieve the pressure and focus more on his batting. Finally, the run drought ended in the Asia Cup 2022, when Virat hit a century against Afghanistan. Shortly after, Virat Kohli finished as the highest run-scorer in the T20 World Cup 2022. Virat Kohli has been back in the groove and sweating it out at the nets ever since.

Rahul Dravid highly impressed with Virat Kohli’s determination

Indian head coach, Rahul Dravid likes the current form of Virat Kohli. He heaped praise on Virat and said that coming back with the same mindset after going through so much surely speaks a lot about his mental strength. Dravid also hailed Virat’s understanding of the game and termed it as an asset for team India.

“He knows when to be aggressive and when to control the game, it’s incredible to watch and a good sign for us if he can build up. Virat has an incredible template in 50-over cricket. His record speaks for itself. It’s phenomenal the number of games he’s played”

Dravid further added that Virat Kohli is back to his original self and working twice as hard in the training sessions. He also described Virat as an inspiration for young players in the team to stay focused even when things are going against them.

“He feels he’s back and is training as hard as I have ever seen him. For me, that has been a stand out. Watching him train this past year, that never changes irrespective of whether he is doing well or not and that is a great lesson for a lot of the young players in the group,”
