Virat Kohli lauded for displaying sportsmanship amid India’s series win

On Monday, Steve Smith commented that the recent Test matches against India were a pleasant experience due to friendly behaviour shown by both teams. This was different from the intense encounters on previous tours. Although, the tourists were defeated 2-1 in the four-match series, the Final test ended in a draw after 5 days of high scoring action in Ahmedabad Australian cricketers were observed having light hearted conversations during overs even after losing the first two matches. Former Indian captain, Virat Kohli showed his sportsmanship by gifting signed jerseys to Usman Khwaja and Alex Carey.

“I thought the game was played in really good spirit. It was very relaxed, we were letting cricket do the talking. It is always a really good series to be a part of everyone was enjoying themselves out on the field. The first three games were pretty quick ones (finished inside three days) but it was a great series to be a part of and great fun,”

Smith said.

India and Australia, will once again face off in the World Test Championship final. It’ll be played on June 7-11 at The Oval. Before the players shook hands on day five, India already knew they had secured their place in the WTC decider. Due to New Zealand’s thrilling last-ball victory over Sri Lanka earlier in the day. India will make their second consecutive appearance in the WTC final. India lost the inaugural edition to New Zealand in 2021.

In the final session of play at the world’s largest cricket stadium, Australia scored 175-2 in their second innings before both teams agreed to end the match. Virat Kohl’s brilliant performance in the recently concluded Test match earned him the Player of the Match award.
