Virender Sehwag Fired Up for India vs Pak Clash in 2023 ODI World Cup

The long-awaited schedule for the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 was revealed during an event in Mumbai on Tuesday, June 27, conducted by the BCCI and ICC. All eyes are eagerly focused on the highly anticipated match between India and Pakistan, scheduled to take place on October 15 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. It is worth noting that India has maintained an outstanding record against their arch-rivals, emerging victorious in all seven encounters between the two teams. Adding fuel to the fiery rivalry in anticipation of the intense clash, former Indian cricketer Virender Sehwag expressed his belief that India handles the pressure of significant matches better than Pakistan, resulting in their exceptional record.

“I feel that now India handles pressure that is why they win. Whereas Pakistan have a burden that they haven’t won against India. In the 1990s, they were good at dealing with pressure but after 2000, India soak it better. If any player says that they don’t feel pressure, I don’t think it’s right. We used to say it too but at the end of the day. We know it’s an India vs Pakistan game and emotions run high,”

Sehwag said.

I am ready to have a battle with Shoaib Akhtar: Virender Sehwag

Virender Sehwag also mentioned his intention to engage in a social media showdown with former Pakistani fast bowler Shoaib Akhtar during the India-Pakistan game. Sparking anticipation for their online exchange.

“Everybody knows that all the focus is going to be on the India vs Pakistan match. I am ready to have a battle with Shoaib Akhtar during that game… on social media,”

Sehwag further added.

Up until 2020, India had never lost a match against Pakistan in any T20 or ODI World Cup. However, during the 2021 T20 World Cup, Pakistan, led by Babar Azam, broke that unbeaten streak by defeating India by ten wickets in Dubai.
