Vishnu Solanki continues to play for Baroda despite loss of father and newborn daughter

Ranji Trophy

Baroda player Vishnu Solanki suffered massive tragedies in just two weeks firstly losing his one-day-old daughter and then his father.

When he was in Cuttack, during his quarantine phase, he got the happiest news of his life. He had become a first-time father to a baby girl on February 11. He is 29 and was in seventh heaven on this news.

In just a day his life changed for the worst.

He lost his daughter on the 12th of February.

Solanki flew back home and missed the first league match against Bengal.

He returned for the second league game against Chandigarh.

He had now swallowed up the bitter death of his daughter’s death and made a ton in that match scoring 103.

But on Sunday, another shock came in Solanki’s life, this time involving his father.

Team manager Arothe via players Kedar Devdhar and Ninad Rathwa informed Solanki that his father too had left for his heavenly abode.

Rathwa saw Solanki leave the field.

Match Referee Amit Pathak gave permission to Solanki to use his mobile phone in the dressing room.

Both the teams of Chandigarh and Baroda wore black armbands and observed a two minutes silence for Solanki.

He was free to go home in order to be able to spend time with his family but Solanki refused to do so and decided to stay back in order to play for Baroda in their final game of the league phase against Hyderabad, due to start on March 3.
