Wasim Jaffer tweets his playing XI for the first WI vs IND Test

Wasim Jaffer

Former India opener, Wasim Jaffer has tweeted his playing XI for the first WI vs IND Test starting today at Dominica.

Moreover, Team India is already preparing from the 1st week of July for this all-important Test series.

But, Jaffer says that India should now put in Ishan Kishan as their stumper-batter for this series and he should be backed by the management as well.

Apparently, he had also given the same opinion before the ICC World Test Championship final but the management kept their faith in Srikar Bharat.

However, Bharat could not make the most of the given opportunity as he failed in both innings of the tournament.

Furthermore, Jaffer believes the Kishan will be able to play an aggressive brand of cricket just like Rishabh Pant in this series.

Additionally, he also wants India to pick Mukesh Kumar for the 1st Test and has also picked the likes of Jaydev Unadkat to replace Shami who has been rested.

Meanwhile, Ravichandran Ashwin will make a return to the Test squad while Yashasvi Jaiswal will be Rohit’s opening partner.

Tweets Jaffer,

Rohit (c), Jaiswal, Gill, Kohli, Ajinkya, Ishan (wk), Jadeja, Ashwin, Unadkat, Siraj, Mukesh

Rohit Sharma confirms that Jaiswal will be his opening partner in this Test series

Moreover, skipper Rohit Sharma has confirmed that Yashasvi Jaiswal will be his opening partner for this Test series.

Furthermore, Gill will be playing at No.3 because Cheteshwar Pujara has been dropped from the Test squad.

Says Rohit,

Gill will play at number 3 because Gill himself wants to play at number 3. He discussed with Rahul (Dravid) that I have played all my cricket at 3 and 4. I think I can do better for my team if I bat at number 3. And it is good for us too because it becomes an opening combination of left and right.

Adding further, he says,

So I think we will try to do this and hopefully this will go on for a long time. Because we have been looking for a left-hander for many years. So now that we have got that left-hander, let’s hope he performs well for the team. And he can really make that spot his own.
