Madhya Pradesh middle order batter, Rajat Patidar received his maiden India call-up for the one day series against South Africa. The year 2022 was a game changer for the youngster. Rajat was a part of the Royal Challengers Bangalore in IPL but was left out of the team in the mega auctions of 2022. However, he failed to attract any bidders and went unsold in the auction.
Fate had a better plan for him. Luvnith Sisodia got injured mid-tournament. As a result, Rajat Patidar was called in as his replacement. Incidentally, Rajat, who was supposed to get married in the month of May, has to postpone it in order to participate in the tournament. He flabbergasted everyone with his splendid performance. Furthermore, Rajat scored a match-winning unbeaten knock of 112 against Lucknow Super Giants in the eliminator.
There began the journey of an extraordinary talent. His home team reached the finals of the Ranji Trophy. They were facing a champion side like Mumbai. Rajat registered a hundred in the event of the finals and took his team home to a maiden Ranji Trophy victory. He finished the tournament with a total of 685 runs, with an excellent average of 82. Additionally, he was only second to Sarfaraz Khan in the highest run-getter list of the tournament. Moreover, in the recently concluded unofficial series against New Zealand A, Rajat registered 2 centuries in a total of 4 innings.
Rajat Paitdar ‘s father not surprised by Rajat’s selection
Rajat Patidar got his due and received his maiden call-up for the Indian senior cricket team. He was named in the 15 member squad for the ODI series against South Africa. His father came out and spoke about his selection. He said that they were confident that he would make it to the big leagues. Manohar Patidar revealed that Rajat had been working really hard and they knew he would don the blue jersey very soon.
“He has been playing Ranji cricket for some time now, and we knew he would play ahead of that. We are not surprised or overwhelmed by his selection, it is very normal for us,”
He further added Rajat has been consistent for a while now. He knew that Rajat would make it to the national side the moment he saw Rajat’s technique of batting.
“Since he started playing Ranji, I was very sure that he will go way forward. I was aware of this from the way he adopted his playing technique in the beginning. He made some good runs, and even if you look at his recent innings for India A, he performed very well,”
