On Tuesday, IPL franchise SunRisers Hyderabad finally decided to let go of their skipper Kane Williamson.

This is because Williamson had a rather disastrous season with the Orange Army in this year’s IPL.

He was majorly out of the tournament due to a severe elbow injury and did not participate in many matches. Additionally, SRH finished 8th on the points table this year.

Williamson’s average in the IPL with the Orange Army is just 36.22 and he scored 2101 runs in the competition.

However, the news did not surprise Williamson in the least bit and he was very calm when speaking in the pre-match press conference.

Answers Williamson,

No, not really. There are a lot of competitions around the world, and the IPL is certainly an amazing competition to be a part of. You see players play for different teams all the time. There are a lot of options, lot of cricket, so for me, I love playing all formats.

Williamson also revealed that SRH’s management reached out to him just a ‘few days’ before the deadline day with the news.

That’s the way it goes, I had a really enjoyable time at SRH, I have a lot of fond memories. It wasn’t a surprise when it (retention list) was officially released.

The New Zealander made his debut for SRH back in 2015 against Chennai Super Kings at the MA Chidambaram Stadium.
