Despite starting well, Wriddhiman Saha has been out of form in the last few matches in the IPL. He failed with the bat against Delhi Capitals on Tuesday. Bengal’s wicketkeeper returned for zero runs. Sunil Gavaskar did not like the shot by which Wriddhiman got out. He made the final criticism.

Khaleel Ahmed bowled the first over for Delhi Capitals. Wriddhi could not stop even one of his balls. All the balls were outswinging and going out the side of the bat. From the first to the fifth ball, Wriddhiman was trying to play the shot outside the body. While doing that, the sixth ball was caught by wicketkeeper Phil Salt.

While doing commentary, the legendary Sunil Gavaskar said about Wriddhiman,

“Too late my friend. If you play such shots, your experience will be of no use. You can practice that kind of shot in the dugout.”

Wriddhiman should not have played such shots: Gavaskar

Moreover, not stopping here, Gavaskar went on saying about the shot Wriddhiman played,

“One word comes to mind after seeing this shot, ‘stupid’. He should not have played such shots at the beginning of the innings.”

Wriddhiman took three catches in Friday’s match. One of them was awarded as the best catch of the day. But the team could not win. Mohammed Shami bowled brilliantly. He took four wickets for 11 runs. Hardik Pandya also scored an unbeaten half-century. But none of that was to the team’s advantage.

Despite of Wriddhiman doing gloves work behind the stums, Delhi Capital won the match with a steller performance of Ishant Sharma at the last over.
