Aakash Chopra analyzes Venkatesh Iyer’s slow start against RR in KKR

In a must-win game against the Rajasthan Royals, the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) lost the match after being put to bat first and scoring an underwhelming total of 149 runs. Venkatesh Iyer was the top scorer for KKR, with a 42-ball 57, but his slow start in the innings led to a below-par total. He struggled to score runs initially and was eventually criticized for his approach. Nitish Rana, his batting partner, also struggled at the start of his innings, leading to a slow partnership between the two. Aakash Chopra, a prominent cricket commentator, analyzed Iyer’s performance and criticized his slow start.

Chopra highlighted that the slow start ultimately affected the team’s final score. He posted a video on YouTube explaining his viewpoint on the matter. KKR needed a partnership after losing two quick wickets, and Iyer and Rana’s partnership was slow, affecting the team’s overall performance.

Aakash Chopra said:

“After that, there is no doubt that Venkatesh Iyer made runs but his start was extremely slow. The pitch was slow, it was turning a little – a typical pitch that Kolkata should have liked but they didn’t because they didn’t score enough runs.”

Chahal has now become the leading wicket-taker in the IPL

Aakash Chopra lauded the impressive bowling performance of Yuzvendra Chahal, the leg spinner of Rajasthan, against KKR. Chahal’s stellar bowling helped him become the leading wicket-taker in the history of IPL. He is also in the race for purple cap again this year. Chopra expressed his appreciation for Chahal’s persistent efforts.

“Ashwin remained wicketless. Joe Root also bowled off-spin, he too didn’t get a wicket. But Yuzi Chahal one more time – chatur chalak chanchal Chahal. He is brilliant. He has the most wickets in this tournament (IPL 2023) already with a slightly slowish start.”
