Aakash Chopra asks teams to be wary of Afghanistan

Aakash Chopra

Former India opener, Aakash Chopra has recently appreciated Afghanistan’s performance against Bangladesh in the ongoing ODI series.

Recently, Afghanistan secured a 142-run win over the hosts in the 2nd ODI to clinch the series 2-0.

Today is the 3rd ODI between these two sides which has now become a dead rubber and the visitors are confident of winning this one as well.

Meanwhile, Chopra has also commented on India’s previous loss to Bangladesh when they toured the nation.

He was quite angry with how India allowed Bangladesh to walk all over them in the first two ODIs and in the 3rd, Ishan Kishan stepped up and made India win the game.

Says Chopra,

Afghanistan have won both matches. They have defeated Bangladesh in their own backyard. This is the same Bangladesh where we lost the series. Remember that series where Rohit got injured and the Indian team lost the series, fell 2-0 behind, and then Ishan Kishan destroyed them in the last match where India won.

Meanwhile, commenting further on Afghanistan, Chopra stated that Afghani spinners were clinical in their performance.

Also, in the 2nd ODI, Ibrahim Zadran and Rahmanullah Gurbaz stitched a 256-run partnership for the first wicket.

Therefore, the former India opener also feels that this win will bolster Afghanistan’s chances in the ODI World Cup in India as well.

They spun a web of spin, the spinners have picked up wickets consistently. Ibrahim Zadran, Rahmanullah Gurbaz- batting has fired. Afghanistan are saying these are also subcontinental conditions and it will be similar conditions at the World Cup in India- so rule them out at your own peril.
