Aakash Chopra, the renowned commentator, expressed his admiration for MS Dhoni and his leadership skills, as Dhoni guided Chennai Super Kings (CSK) to their 10th IPL final. CSK secured their spot in the final by defeating Gujarat Titans (GT), the defending champions of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023. Chopra highlighted that out of the 14 IPL seasons CSK has participated in, they have reached the finals an impressive 10 times.
Praising Dhoni’s captaincy style, Chopra even suggested that the entire tournament appears to have been designed for Dhoni’s benefit. The former cricketer also commended Dhoni’s ability to turn the team’s fortunes around. Considering that CSK finished in the ninth position in the previous IPL season. This year, however, CSK became the first team to secure a spot in the final of IPL 2023.
“This team is different. Mahi’s magic is different. It seems the entire tournament has been organized for MS Dhoni this time. They finished ninth last year, finished second this year (in the league phase). They have now become the first team to reach the final. Take a bow Dhoni, you are amazing.”

CSK reached the final for 10th time
In the first qualifier, Chennai Super Kings (CSK) batted first and posted a respectable total of 172/7 in their allotted 20 overs. Rituraj Gaikwad and Devon Conway played brilliantly, providing a solid start with an 87-run opening partnership. CSK’s bowlers successfully defended the target, leading the four-time champions to a 15-run victory over the defending champions.
Gaikwad’s outstanding innings of 60 runs off 44 balls, including seven boundaries and a six. Hence, it earned him the Player of the Match award. Currently, Gaikwad is ranked sixth in the race for the Orange Cap, having scored 564 runs at an average of 43.38 and an impressive strike rate of 146.88.
