Aakash Chopra praises MS Dhoni’s ability to nurture players

Chennai Super Kings

Former cricketer Aakash Chopra heaped praise on MS Dhoni for his leadership skills and ability to mentor players. According to Chopra, Dhoni has a unique talent of bringing out the best in his teammates, which has helped them to flourish under his guidance. He cited the examples of Ajinkya Rahane and Shivam Dube, who have benefitted from Dhoni’s captaincy.

Chopra also noted that unlike other teams that tend to focus on finding players, Dhoni has a knack for making players better. He credited the CSK skipper’s leadership style for this, stating that his intrinsic ability to mentor and guide players has helped them to grow and thrive.

The former cricketer emphasized how Dhoni’s leadership and advice have been instrumental in the success of CSK and the Indian cricket team in the past. His ability to lead and mentor players has made him a role model for many young cricketers.

“Ajinkya Rahane likes Bangalore and batted very well till the time he was there. Shivam Dube also batted very well. He was earlier a part of RCB and then the Rajasthan Royals as well, but what do you see with Dhoni – all other teams find players, MS Dhoni doesn’t find but makes players,”

said Aakash Chopra.

Heartwarming to see players performing under Dhoni: Aakash

“It is heartwarming to see the players performing under him. Shivam Dube’s story is the same and we are seeing a different Ajinkya Rahane in the two or three matches he has played. He hit a pulled six – what a shot,”

Aakash Chopra further added.

CSK’s last game in IPL 2023 saw both Shivam Dube and Ajinkya Rahane performing exceptionally well. With Devon Conway’s magnificent 83 off 45, the team scored 226 runs. Although RCB looked to be on track with Faf du Plessis (62 of 33) and Glenn Maxwell (76 off 36) on the crease, crucial wickets and Dhoni’s composed captaincy helped CSK secure a thrilling eight-run victory at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium.
