Despite a lackluster performance in the last season of IPL, Virat Kohli has been picked by Aakash Chopra as the probable highest run-scorer for RCB in the upcoming IPL 2023. Last season, Kohli managed to score only 341 runs at an average of 22.73 and a strike rate of 115.98, which was below par for the Indian skipper. However, he still emerged as the second-highest run-scorer for the franchise, with Faf du Plessis leading the pack with 468 runs.
IF VIRAT SCORES, RCB LOOKS MORE STRONGER: AAKASH CHOPRA
On the “AakashVani” show on JioCinema, Chopra shared his thoughts on RCB’s batting lineup and predicted Virat Kohli to be their top run-scorer in IPL 2023, surpassing Faf du Plessis. He explained his reasoning for the prediction:
“Who will be the highest run-scorer for this team – Faf or Virat Kohli? I am going to go with Virat Kohli. Virat didn’t score runs last year. It cannot happen every year, so he will score runs and then the team will look slightly stronger.”
Former Indian opener, Aakash Chopra predicts that Kohli will remain RCB’s opener and expects Rajat Patidar to bat at No. 3. He states:
“They have a very good captain in the form of Faf du Plessis. If we talk about the batting, Virat Kohli comes to open along with Faf du Plessis. They might not have a place for Anuj Rawat and then Rajat Patidar at No. 3, he has performed very well.”
Last year, Rajat Patidar was roped in as a replacement player for the Royal Challengers Bangalore. The Madhya Pradesh batsman made the most of his opportunity and emerged as a standout performer for the team. In just seven innings, he scored an impressive 333 runs at an average of 55.50 and a phenomenal strike rate of 152.75.
