Aakash Chopra tips Virat Kohli for Orange Cap in IPL 2023

Royal Challengers Bangalore had a convincing win against Mumbai Indians in their first match of IPL 2023. RCB has high hopes of winning their first-ever IPL trophy this season, but they need senior players to deliver consistently like they did in the previous game. The duo of Faf du Plessis and Virat Kohli led RCB to a comfortable victory by chasing down 172 runs in 16.2 overs against Mumbai. According to former cricketer Aakash Chopra, Kohli, who scored an unbeaten 82 runs in the first game, has a chance to win the Orange Cap this season.

Chopra also praised Du Plessis for his excellent performance and described him as an “aggressor.”

Chopra said:

“From Virat Kohli’s knock, it seems he will remain in the Orange Cap race this year. There is some similarity between 2016 and this season. He was in sublime form for six months at the international level ahead of IPL 2016. Now also he is close to that sublime form at the international level.”

“Faf du Plessis was the aggressor. He went fast at the start and then Virat Kohli caught up. When you are chasing and especially if it is the Chinnaswamy ground, one plus one is not two, but it becomes 11 when two openers play like that,”

he further added.

Aakash Chopra analyses MI’s batting against RCB

Aakash Chopra has analyzed Mumbai Indian’s performance in their first match against Royal Challengers Bangalore. He highlighted the team’s struggles in batting and praised the bowling of Siraj. Chopra thinks that Rohit Sharma and Tim David need to step up their game, or Mumbai will have difficulty winning.

He also commended Tilak Varma’s performance and his contributions to Mumbai’s batting. Despite Suryakumar Yadav’s unfortunate dismissal, Chopra thinks Mumbai has plenty to ponder after their loss in the opening match.
