Royal Challengers Bangalore’s legendary cricketer Chris Gayle has praised both batters’ performances. According to JioCinema, Gayle said:
“Faf is a class player, an excellent captain, and has performed well in international cricket too. So, Faf’s performance is not surprising.”
Bangalore’s IPL 2023 season debut was a great win against Mumbai Indians, the five-time champions. The fifth match saw Faf du Plessis’s team perform exceptionally well with both bat and ball. Mumbai set a target of 171 runs in the first innings, but Bangalore’s Virat Kohli and skipper Faf du Plessis shone with their brilliant knocks. Kohli scored 82 unbeaten runs in just 49 deliveries, while Du Plessis scored 73 runs off 43 deliveries.

“One thing I can tell you, Virat and Faf are going to feed off each other perfectly. Look at the way they start; they look to drop and run. They pick up their ones and their twos, and by the third over comes, they’re ready to take it out. That’s something bowlers and teams got to be aware of because these two, I’ve said this before, you’re guaranteed almost 400 runs,”

Former Indian cricketer Suresh Raina shared his thoughts on the match between Royal Challengers Bangalore and Mumbai Indians. Raina was disappointed with Mumbai’s weak bowling performance and emphasized the importance of having a good run rate in the IPL. The way RCB chased down the target in just 16 overs will benefit them in the tournament’s later stages.
Mumbai’s bowling attack failed to take any wickets, and Raina noted the lack of pressure on RCB’s batters. Mumbai, the five-time IPL champions, will look to bounce back from their opening match loss under the leadership of Rohit Sharma. Their upcoming match against their rivals Chennai Super Kings will be crucial. On the other hand, RCB will aim to continue their winning streak in their next match against Kolkata Knight Riders at Eden Gardens.
