Arjun Tendulkar, the young pacer of Mumbai Indians (MI), received high praise from former Australian speedster Brett Lee for his impressive performance in the final over against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in IPL 2023. MI secured their third win of the season by defeating SRH by 14 runs on April 18. Thanks to their brilliant all-round performance.

Despite losing wickets at regular intervals during the chase of 192 runs, SRH staged a comeback in the game, thanks to a 55-run partnership between Mayank Agarwal and Heinrich Klaasen. However, they were eventually dismissed by Riley Meredith and Piyush Chawla.

As the match reached its climax, SRH needed 20 runs off the final over to secure a potential win. In a high-pressure situation, Arjun was given the responsibility of defending the total for his team.

To everyone’s surprise, the young left-arm pacer handled the pressure exceptionally well. He not only defended the total but also claimed his maiden wicket in the tournament by dismissing Bhuvneshwar Kumar. Brett Lee praised Arjun’s performance. Lee emphasized how crucial it is for a young player like him to gain exposure to such high-pressure scenarios to improve his game.

“He (Arjun) handled the pressure beautifully. To give away just 4-5 runs in that last over, getting his first wicket in IPL. Congratulations to him but I had said prior to that happening, no matter what happened at the end, that experience of him bowling in the death. I’m hoping it’s a positive one – would just take his game from strength to strength,”
