During their recent IPL match against Kolkata Knight Riders at Eden Gardens, Chennai Super Kings were greeted with a familiar sight – a sea of yellow in the stands. Despite being an away game for CSK, the support for the team was immense, largely due to the presence of their iconic skipper MS Dhoni. According to star opener Devon Conway, every game feels like a home fixture due to Dhoni’s massive fan following in the country.

Devon revealed that the culture in Chennai is special and that the team aims to continue their momentum. He added that having Dhoni in the team makes them feel like every match is a home fixture. With rumours of IPL 2023 being Dhoni’s last appearance in the competition, fans have been eager to support the legendary cricketer on the field.

The presence of Dhoni in CSK’s playing eleven has always been a massive boost for the team, especially due to his massive fan following across the country. Despite playing an away game against KKR, the Eden Gardens was filled with CSK supporters who came to cheer their beloved captain and the team.

Lot of credit needs to go to Rutu: Conway

Conway praised his opening partner Gaikwad for his own success, having hit four half-centuries in the tournament. He shared his strategy of using his feet against spinners on subcontinent surfaces.

“I think my partnership with Rutu calms the nerves. A lot of credit needs to go to Rutu. I’m just trying to be as clear as possible. I’ve always had an issue with the ball on the body, but have been getting over it. By using my feet [against spinners], I get into good positions and get momentum,”

Conway said.
