Chennai Super Kings have inducted young pacer Matheesha Pathirana as a replacement for New Zealand quickie Adam Milne.

Pathirana is the second signing by Chennai Super Kings after Maheesh Theekshana this season.

Milne was ruled out of the IPL when he suffered a hamstring injury in the opening game of the Chennai Super Kings.

Pathirana was a part of the Sri Lanka U19 team in this year’s U19 World Cup in the West Indies.

He picked up 7 wickets with an average of 27.28 and returned an economy rate of 6.16.

His bowling action is somewhat similar to Sri Lanka pace legend Lasith Malinga. Pathirana bowls pacy, low-tailing yorkers and has a low, slingy action.

If we talk about Patirana’s senior-level cricket, then he has played only one List-A game and two T20 matches so far.

Pathirana was on Chennai Super Kings’ radar for quite a while.

He has now become a full-time member of the defending champions ever since the injury to Adam Milne.
