JioCinema reports record-breaking viewership in IPL 2023

JioCinema, the official digital streaming partner of IPL 2023, has been breaking records with its IPL viewership. In the first five weeks of the tournament, it recorded a staggering 1300 Cr. video views and an average user time of 60 minutes per match. The remarkable performance of JioCinema has pleased both viewers and advertisers. This season, the number of sponsors during IPL’s digital streaming reached a record high of 26, with an overwhelming response from advertisers, which reached approximately 400. JioCinema’s real-time number tracking system has enabled advertisers to assess their reach effectively.

One of the advertisers said:

“Our segments are very varied but IPL on digital has allowed me to be able to focus and drive the right content to the right audience through targeted marketing. The level of personalization and the targeting that you can achieve is amazing.”

“It’s great consumer experience that’s adding a lot more numbers. Forget Hindi and English, which is quite common, but there’s Bhojpuri and even Punjabi, which are actually giving a lot more numbers. So, from a language perspective, it’s great immersive stuff for marketers,”

Overwhelming number of advertisers are coming on JioCinema

JioCinema’s IPL viewership has provided an excellent consumer experience, attracting a significant number of viewers. Vishal Chinchankar, CEO of Madison Digital, highlighted the diverse language options, such as Bhojpuri and Punjabi, contributing to increased numbers. The ability to personalize campaigns at scale on digital platforms has been praised by Sudhir Shukla, COO of More Retail.

Amardeep Singh, CEO of Interactive Avenues, noted that IPL on Digital has made TV advertising more accessible to smaller brands. The TAM report showed a 20% growth in CTV ad spots, reflecting the preference for convenience and flexibility among viewers. Anil Jayaraj, CEO of Viacom18 Sports, emphasized that advertisers have greatly benefited from JioCinema’s digital viewership, opening doors for smaller brands to participate. Furthermore, JioCinema is expected to continue captivating viewers and setting more streaming records as the season progresses.
