Kevin Pietersen perplexed by Brook’s 2023 performance against DC

Sunrisers Hyderabad

In the match against Delhi Capitals, Brook attempted an audacious scoop shot and scored just seven runs off 14 deliveries before being bowled out by South Africa’s Anrich Nortje in the sixth over of the game. Kevin Pietersen, a former cricketer who was part of the commentary team, criticised Brook’s shot selection, calling it risky and blaming him for playing under pressure. Kevin Pietersen stated that he might be old fashioned, but he didn’t understand why Brook attempted such a shot. His comments came after Brook’s shot ended up being unsuccessful, and Nortje knocked down his stumps.

Harry Brook, who scored a century against the Kolkata Knight Riders at the Eden Gardens, hasn’t been impressive in the other matches of the IPL 2023. Brook, who has only scored 63 runs in six matches, has raised doubts about his ability to perform on Indian pitches.

“I just don’t understand the shot actually. The fine leg is back. You’ve got a deep point, you’ve got a fine leg. He was giving himself a lot of room on the leg stump to hit through the off-side. I dunno, maybe I’m old fashioned – fine leg back, not a good shot,”

Pietersen said.

DC defeated SRH by seven runs

Delhi Capitals defended a modest total of 144 runs against the Sunrisers Hyderabad at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium. While batting first, Delhi faced a tough time but managed to put up a defendable score. But, thanks to the efforts of Manish Pandey and Axar Patel, they reached a respectable total. During SRH’s chase, they were quite slow, allowing Delhi to take advantage. Heinrich Klaasen tried his best to bring his team closer to victory. But he could only manage 31 runs off 19 balls. In the end, Mukesh Kumar’s exceptional bowling helped Delhi win the match by seven runs, even though SRH needed just 12 runs in the last over.
