MS Dhoni’s IPL retirement is not close yet: Deepak Chahar

MS Dhoni

MS Dhoni’s future in the Indian Premier League (IPL) has been a topic of much debate. However, the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) skipper has already started preparing for the 16th edition of the tournament. CSK players, both past and present, have voiced their support for Dhoni to continue playing in the IPL. In a recent interview, Indian pacer Deepak Chahar was asked about Dhoni’s batting form in the nets.

Chahar refuted the notion that this will be Dhoni’s final IPL season, stating that no one had made such an announcement. Additionally, he highlighted that even Dhoni himself hasn’t provided any update regarding his future plans.

“No one has said that this would be his final year. At least, he hasn’t. Hopefully, he will play more. We don’t know any such thing, we want him to play as much as he can. He knows when to retire, we saw it when he did in Tests and international cricket. No one else knows. I just hope he continues to play, it’s a privilege to play under him. It has been a dream to play with him. He’s in good touch as well, you will see that when he bats in the IPL this year,”

Chahar said.

MS can continue to play for the next three to four years: Watson

Former Australian cricketer and Chennai Super Kings (CSK) player Shane Watson stated that MS Dhoni is capable of playing in the Indian Premier League (IPL) for the next 3-4 years due to his fitness and skill in batting and wicketkeeping. Watson credited Dhoni as one of the main reasons behind CSK’s success as a franchise.

Watson said:

“I heard that this is the last IPL of MS Dhoni but I don’t think. MS Dhoni can continue to play for the next three to four years. He is still very fit and batting and wicket-keeping really well. His leadership is something that is as good as his game. MS’s fitness and mind-reading of the game make him a good leader. His skills on the ground are awesome. He is one of the main reasons that CSK is successful.”
