New Zealand drop to number two rank in ODIs

New Zealand Cricket Team

India humiliated New Zealand in the second ODI at Raipur. New Zealand were rolled out for mere 108 runs. India made a mockery of the target chasing it in 20.1 overs with 8 wickets in hand.

With the defeat in the second ODI, New Zealand are dethroned from the number one rank in the ICC ODI rankings. They slip to number 2 as they are tied with England with 113 points. India is at the third position with the same points. As there is a tie between the teams at 113 points, India will be the new number 1 team if they are able to win the 3rd ODI.

New Zealand slipped to the number 2 rank

England – 113

New Zealand – 113

India – 113

Australia – 112

Pakistan -106

India have the opportunity to stay at the top of the rankings in all 3 formats. They are already the number one side in the T20 Internationals. If they win the 3rd ODI, they rise to the top of the table in the ODI rankings. They are currently number 2 in Tests, with Australia leading India by 11 points.

India will look to close the ODI series against New Zealand on a high and build momentum in the World Cup year. The third ODI will be played at Indore on 24th January, Tuesday at 1:30 PM IST.
