Rajasthan Royals sign Sandeep Sharma as replacement for injured Prasidh

With the Indian Premier League 2023 just around the corner, teams are finalizing their squads and making changes to cope with players’ injuries. Rajasthan Royals is one such team that announced Sandeep Sharma as the replacement for the injured Prasidh Krishna.

Krishna, who had a successful season in 2022 with 19 wickets at an average of 29, was ruled out of the upcoming IPL season due to a lumbar stress fracture. Sandeep Sharma, who has experience playing 104 IPL matches, will now fill Krishna’s shoes.

Sharma, who made his breakthrough season in 2014 with 18 wickets at an average of 19.66, has picked up a total of 114 wickets at an average of 26.33 in his 10-year-long career. The right-arm seamer first came into the limelight in the final of the ICC U19 World Cup 2012. He picked up four wickets to help India win their third title. This performance earned him a contract with Punjab Kings in 2013.

In the mini-auction held in December 2022, Rajasthan Royals bought several star players such as Jason Holder, Adam Zampa, and Joe Root.

Rajasthan will begin their campaign against SRH on April 2nd

Sanju Samson led Rajasthan Royals in IPL 2022, where they narrowly missed their chance to win the trophy for the second time. The team has made some additions to their squad ahead of IPL 2023. The 2008 champions will aim to achieve the feat by improving their performance this season. Rajasthan Royals will commence their IPL campaign on April 2. They will take on Sunrisers Hyderabad at Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad.
