Ravindra Jadeja was named in the Indian squad for the Border Gavaskar Trophy against Australia subject to his fitness. The Indian all rounder was asked to prove his fitness in the Ranji Trophy to be declared fit before the marquee series.

Jadeja featured in the Ranji Trophy clash for Saurashtra against Tamil Nadu. All rounder enjoyed his return to competitive cricket as he picked a 7-wicket haul in the second innings. He was not able to contribute much with the bat but his strong performance with the ball is an encouraging sign for team India. Jadeja bowled 17 overs in the 2nd innings as he picked up 7 wickets with his teammate Dharmendrasinh Jadeja picking up three.

His knee looked fine and was bowling well on a pitch that assisted the spinners. Jadeja is a crucial member of the Indian side. He offers balance to the side as he can contribute with both bat and ball. The all-rounder has not participated in competitive cricket since he was ruled out of the Asia Cup ahead of the T20 World Cup.

With Jaddu returning to the side, India will look to dominate at home and qualify for the finals of the World Test Championship.
