Sanju Samson praises MS Dhoni’s fan following in RR’s home ground

Rajasthan Royals faced Chennai Super Kings in Match 37 of IPL 2023 on April 27 at Sawai Mansingh Stadium, Jaipur. During the toss, Rajasthan captain Sanju Samson acknowledged that the Chennai franchise, thanks to MS Dhoni’s immense popularity, attracts fans donning yellow jerseys wherever they play. Although Samson hoped for good support from the home crowd, he noted that the fans at the stadium were also covered in yellow to show their admiration for the legendary player.

“We would like to bat first. We like to stick to our strength, which is to defend. It feels really great to play RR’s 200th game, feels great to be playing for 10 years. Would love to see some pink here today, but it’s yellow and we know that the reason is (smiles),”

Sanju said at the toss.

After winning the toss, Samson announced that Boult would be missing the match due to a niggle. And Zampa had been included in his place. Although Boult has been in excellent form for RR, consistently picking wickets with the new ball, Zampa has picked two wickets in the two matches he has played.

Boult is the second-highest wicket-taker for Rajasthan, adding nine wickets to his name at an average of 21.22 and an economy of 7.95 from six innings.

Chennai high on confidence following three-match winning streak

Chennai Super Kings, who have won five out of their seven games, played with the same side as their last match and are on a three-match winning streak. In contrast, Rajasthan Royals, have won four out of their seven games. They are ranked third on the points table. They’ve lost their previous two matches against Lucknow Super Giants and Royal Challengers Bangalore.

Coming back to this game, Rajasthan Royals openers dominated the powerplay. Yashasvi Jaiswal scored a quick half-century, his third in the season.
