Iyer, who leads Kolkata Knight Riders in the IPL, has been replaced by a stand-in captain due to his ongoing injury issues.

Following his withdrawal from the fourth Test of the Border Gavaskar Trophy due to a recurring injury, India captain Rohit Sharma revealed that Shreyas Iyer’s scans did not indicate good news.

It remains to be seen when Iyer will be able to make his comeback. He will be hoping for a speedy recovery to continue his cricketing career.

KKR WILL ANNOUNCE SHREYAS IYER’S REPLACEMENT SOON

Kolkata Knight Riders are set to suffer a major setback. Skipper Shreyas Iyer will be out of action for four to five months due to a recurring back injury. Iyer is an important player for KKR, having scored 2776 runs in 101 IPL matches. The team will miss his leadership skills. Also his power-hitting and explosive batting performances.

The franchise will have to find a replacement for Iyer as soon as possible and name a stand-in skipper. Many players are contenders for the leadership role, such as Tim Southee, Nitish Rana and Sunil Narine. These players possess the skills and experience required to take on the role of KKR captain for the 2023 IPL season. KKR will begin their campaign against PBKS on April 1st.
