Shubman Gill Driven by Continuous Improvement, Never Satisfied

Shubman Gill - Kolkata Knight Riders - KKR

Shubman Gill, considered India’s future star, is enjoying a remarkable year in the ongoing IPL 2023 season. His consistent performances have placed him among the elite. Despite reaching the IPL final, the 23-year-old opener remains unsatisfied. Gill showcased his T20 batting prowess in a match against Mumbai Indians, propelling Gujarat to their second consecutive final while claiming the Orange Cap as the tournament’s leading run-scorer. Despite his excellent form, Gill harbors a sense of discontentment. He believes there is more work to be done and envisions replicating his performances for the Indian team in upcoming crucial tournaments, including the WTC final against Australia. This young talent yearns for greater success and aims to make a mark on the international stage.

“It’s been great, and very fortunate, I thank the universe. But every time, like today, I have this feeling that the job is not done yet. Every time I perform and do well the next morning, I have this feeling that the job is not done yet. Once IPL finishes, the World Test Championship start.

The WTC is over, Asia Cup will be there. Once Asia Cup is over, you’ll be like ‘Oh, the World Cup is here’. So there is always something in my mind that I look forward to, and (feel) the job is not done yet. But it’s been a great year so far for me and I’m really fortunate and really happy for that,”

Shubman said.

It’s going to get busier with WTC and the World Cup coming this year: Gill

“It’s been a busy year for me, but I don’t really consider practising and playing as much. Because that’s something that I’ve grown up with and that’s something I have been doing my whole life. It actually charges me up, but it’s been a busy year. It’s going to get busier with WTC and the World Cup coming this year and it’s going to be a really fun and exciting year for me,”

Gill further added.
