SS Rajamouli’s movie ‘RRR’ has created a stir across India. With its track ‘Naatu Naatu’ bagging the prestigious Best Original Song award at the Oscars 2023. This marks the first time an Indian song has won this category. The entire country rejoiced at the movie’s triumph, with even the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad echoing with the song’s beats. Sunil Gavaskar, the legendary Indian cricketer who is currently commentating during a series, was seen performing the ‘Naatu Naatu’ dance step before the start of Day 5’s play.

The Best Original Song category had various other nominees. The star studded nominees included ‘Applause’ from “Tell It Like a Woman”, ‘Hold My Hand’ from “Top Gun: Maverick”, ‘Lift Me Up’ from “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever” and ‘This Is a Life’ from “Everything Everywhere All at Once”. However, the Telugu song ‘Naatu Naatu’ emerged victorious. It became the first Indian track to win the Academy Award in this category.

The song has already earned recognition on a global level, having received a Golden Globe and Critics Choice Award. MM Keeravaani composed the music for the chartbuster, while Chandrabose provided the lyrics.

“RRR” (Rise Roar Revolt) is a fictional story that takes place before India’s independence. The movie follows the lives of two Indian revolutionaries from the 1920s. Alluri Sitarama Raju (Ram Charan) and Komaram Bheem (Jr NTR).

Sunil Gavaskar and Hayden joined in the celebration of RRR’s Naatu Naatu song in Ahmedabad, much like many other Indians. Star Sports, the official broadcaster of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, shared a video of Gavaskar’s dance on Twitter, which quickly went viral. The video also showed Ajit Agarkar and Jatin Sapru dancing alongside Gavaskar and Hayden.

India had a double reason to celebrate as two films won big at the 95th Academy Awards. The Telugu film RRR won the Best Original Song category for ‘Naatu Naatu’, while ‘The Elephant Whisperers’ won the Best Documentary Short Film award. The country rejoiced at this momentous occasion.
