Varun Chakravarthy talks about bowling challenges at Eden Gardens

Kolkata Knight Riders

Varun Chakravarthy, the spinner of KKR, has been in exceptional form in IPL 2023 with 17 wickets in 11 matches. He was instrumental in KKR’s last victory over Punjab Kings, as he picked up three crucial wickets of Liam Livingstone, Jitesh Sharma, and Rishi Dhawan. Chakravarthy credited his success to keeping it simple and relying on three variations to deceive the batters. He also expressed his gratitude to his captain Nitish Rana for his constant support. Currently, the spinner ranks fifth in the IPL Purple Cap race.

“Thank You so much. The plan was simple, as Nitish wanted me to challenge them on the longer side of the boundary. I did that, and the fact that I had the captain’s backing also helped me to succeed. This season keep it simple and use three variations. It’s good, and we need to bowl better at home, and it is challenging conditions,”

Varun C said.

“Flat pitch and small boundaries. So, if we do well here, we will do well in the tournament. As I said, tough bowling here with small boundaries. It will be the same bowling to Dhawan. So, it’s all about executing the right lines and lengths and coming out on top,”

he added.

Andre Russell, Rinku Singh win it for KKR

In pursuit of 180 runs, KKR faced a difficult situation as they lost wickets frequently. But Andre Russell played a blistering knock of 42 runs off 23 deliveries to revive their chances. Despite Russell’s efforts, the game was not over as Arshdeep Singh’s final over was top-notch. Russell got out on the penultimate ball, leaving Rinku Singh to hit the winning shot. Singh finally hit a boundary on the last ball to secure the Knight Riders’ fifth win of the season. With this victory, KKR moved up to the fifth spot in the IPL Points Table, while PBKS dropped to seventh place.
