After BGT, several Indian cricket players, including Virat Kohli, Ravichandran Ashwin, and Axar Patel, have made remarkable progress in the ICC Test rankings. Kohli made the most significant jump, propelling seven places to reach No. 13 on the list after scoring his first Test century in over three years. He was previously ranked outside of the Top-10 in all formats after delivering poor performances. Although Kohli has yet to break into the top 10, his score of 186 is hopefully a sign of his future success.

VIRAT JUMPED SEVEN PLACES IN LATEST TEST RANKINGS

As India won the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2-1, Virat Kohli’s impressive performance pushed him seven places up in the ICC Test rankings. So, Kohli is 13th ranked batter now. He finished as India’s highest and the second-highest overall run-scorer in the series with 297 runs. In rankings, only Rishabh Pant and Rohit Sharma ahead of him. Despite not scoring big runs, Kohli showed glimpses of his fluent self throughout the series. In Delhi, he looked the best he has been in a long time. In the series decider, he stepped up and scored his 28th Test century after a gap of 1205 days. Thus, Kohli helped India get the lead and batting Australia out of the contest.

After an intense battle, Ravichandran Ashwin claimed the top spot as the No. 1 ranked bowler in the ICC Test rankings, pushing James Anderson to second place. With 26 wickets in the series and two 5-wicket-hauls, Ashwin was named Player of the Series along with his spin partner Ravindra Jadeja. Axar Patel, despite only picking up two wickets, made a significant impact with the bat. Axar scored 264 runs in the series including three half-centuries. Ultimately, his performance moved him up eight places to be ranked 44 on the list of Test batters.
