WTC Points Table Updated, What are India’s chances of reaching the final?

Australia secured a significant victory against India in the third Test of the BGT, thus becoming the first team to qualify for the WTC Final in June. Before the match, Australia held the top spot in the table with 66.67 percentage points. While India trailed close behind with 64.06 percentage points. The Steve Smith-led team has now climbed to 68.52 percentage points, further solidifying their position at the top.

WTC FINAL WILL TAKE PLACE IN JUNE

In order to secure their spot in the WTC final without relying on other teams’ results, India must win the upcoming fourth Test against Australia, set to begin on March 9. Sri Lanka, who currently holds the third position in the rankings with 53.33 percentage points, are close behind and will face New Zealand in a Test series later this month.

If India loses the fourth Test against Australia, and the series ends in a 2-2 tie, while Sri Lanka emerges victorious with a 2-0 win over New Zealand, Rohit Sharma‘s team will not be able to secure a place among the top two teams in the rankings. This puts India under immense pressure to perform well in the upcoming match and secure their spot in the championship final. The implications of the result of this match are significant, not only for India but for Sri Lanka and other teams vying for a spot in the top two as well.

Australia claimed a resounding nine-wicket victory over India on a difficult pitch. This secured their place in the World Test Championship final. The match lasted only two days, with the visitors successfully chasing down the target of 76 runs. Head and Labuschagne led the charge for Australia after losing Usman Khawaja early on. The last match will begin on March 9 in Ahmedabad.
