INTERNATIONAL CRICKET

The International Cricket Council organizes international cricket competitions between teams representing different countries (ICC). Test matches, One-Day matches, and Twenty20 matches are the three primary formats.

Meanwhile, the majority of matches take place on tours. Meanwhile, one country travels to another for many weeks or months. Moreover, it competes in a variety of matches against the host country. The Cricket World Cup and the ICC T20 World Cup are two multi-nation events that are organized by the ICC.

History

International cricket did not have a systematic structure until the early 20th century.  Meanwhile, it has long been customary for nations to plan their own cricket matches without the help of an organization like the ICC. The ICC subsequently agreed to have the Test-playing nations compete against one another in a 10-year schedule of games called as the ICC Future Tours Programme. This strategy was put in place to motivate some of the more powerful nations to play the weaker ones more regularly.

Different formats

One Day

A One Day International (ODI) is a game of limited-overs cricket in which two international teams compete. The game lasts up to nine hours and consists of each team facing a certain number of overs, presently 50.

Tests

A kind of first-class cricket known as test cricket is played between teams representing full members of the International Cricket Council at the international level (ICC). A match is expected to take up to five days and consists of four innings (two for each team).

T20

The two sides each get one inning of play during a Twenty20 match, with a maximum of 20 overs. A normal Twenty20 game lasts over two and a half hours, with an official 10-minute break in between each inning and each inning lasting roughly 70 minutes.

Revenues

The ODI World Cup is one of the biggest sporting events in the world. Meanwhile, it generates significant revenues for the International Cricket Council (ICC) and the host countries. The main revenue streams for the tournament include broadcasting rights, sponsorships, ticket sales, and merchandise sales. The ICC earns a significant portion of its revenue from the broadcast of the tournament, with major broadcasting companies from around the world bidding for the rights to broadcast the matches.
